New milestone for knowledgescotland
knowledgescotland reaches a new milestone next month when a two day conference will focus on key research areas.
These include Responses to Climate Change, Protecting Biodiversity and the Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability of Rural Scotland.
There will also be an up-to-the-minute briefing on Health and Wellbeing and the research being conducted on human, animal and crop health.
‘Science Policy Success’ is being staged at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 October.
Some of Scotland’s leading experts on climate change, sustainable development and biodiversity will be taking part. Those speaking at the conference include Professor Anne Glover, the Scottish Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Paul R. van Gardingen, the Director of the Edinburgh International Development Centre at the University of Edinburgh and the Environment Minister, Roseanna Cunningham MSP.
Part of the conference will look at the way complex scientific issues are communicated to the public: also taking part will be the broadcasters Quentin Cooper and Lesley Riddoch.

- SCRI (Scottish Crop Research Institute).
The project is designed to assist policymakers develop improved knowledge and understanding in the food, health, environment and rural sectors. More than a hundred delegates are expected to attend and there are very few places left. More details can be found at www.knowledgescotland.org and on the events page.

The Passing of Knowlegde
Whether in Scotland or anywhere the passing of complex PhD level knowledge to the general public is not always easy, especially when dealing with the environment, climate changes, and biodiversity. As an agricultural engineer this is a hot topic everywhere. Everyone is in favor of Best Management Practices (BMPs), but these can differ from place to place and climate to climate. Not to mention the different perspectives of the farmer, the environmentalist, the scientist, etc. As a team we can all benefit from this process.
A great initiaitive
Truly a great initiative. Sustainable development is the only way forward. It is key that our policymakers act from a position of sound knowledge and understanding. Looking forward to the outcome of this conference
