John Swinney visits SCRI

The Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, John Swinney, has paid a visit to SCRI.

The Managing Director of SCRI’s commercial arm, Mylnefield Research Services, also briefed the Cabinet Secretary. Dr Nigel Kerby explained the means by which scientific research on crops in conducted by SCRI and then converted into new varieties and products on the supermarket shelves.

During the visit, Mr Swinney visited the Commonwealth Potato Collection and a new, state-of-the-art glasshouse block which was opened by HRH The Princess Royal in June.
