Fruit for the Future 2010

Despite heavy downpours around 80 people attended Fruit for the Future 2010 which was held on Thursday 15 July at SCRI, Invergowrie, Dundee. One of this year's highlights was the work SCRI has recently started on blueberries to find varieties particularly suited to the UK climate.

This free event showcases developments and trends in SCRI’s soft fruit breeding and research programmes. It is aimed at farmers, agronomists, those in the food and drink industries, scientists and others interested in soft fruit.

The programme consisted of short seminars followed by a tour of SCRI’s fruit research and breeding plots. The field tour offered the opportunity to taste-test current and prospective new cultivars from our breeding programme.
