Working at SCRI
SCRI is situated in Invergowrie, a small village on the western edge of Dundee by the River Tay.
Dundee is Scotland’s fourth largest city and has a strong science base with two universities, a teaching hospital and the Wellcome Trust Biocentre. The city has one of the largest life science and research communities outside Oxford and Cambridge.
Dundee is around one hour’s drive from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen and is on main train routes. The city also has an airport with regular services to London, Birmingham and Belfast.
The city has many attractions including Captain Scott’s ship the RRS Discovery and adjacent visitor centre, Dundee University Botanic Gardens, Sensation Science Centre, Verdant Works jute museum and the castle and beaches of Broughty Ferry.
The city has a lively arts scene with Dundee Rep and Dundee Contemporary Arts forming the cornerstone of the cultural quarter. There are also regular concerts and events in the Caird Hall. There is also a pedestrian shopping area and two major shopping centres.
The surrounding countryside of Tayside and Fife offers many leisure and sightseeing opportunities; from the golf courses of St Andrews and East Neuk fishing villages to the spectacular hills and glens of Angus and Glamis Castle.
